Our Technologies
REX (REal-time
X-ray fluorescence)
The REX device combines
a newly developed and patented nano-cellular technology application
with commonly used X-ray fluorescence (XRF) technology in a way that
creates a system that has an outstanding value proposition to the market.
Among the technologys most important benefits are:
- REX
- Has higher
detection sensitivity; higher accuracy, and can quantifiably measure
for target dissolved metal elements in water and other fluid flow
streams.
- Has a broader
range of detectable elements (all EPA-regulated heavy metals)
than any other similar device.
- Provides
real-time, in-situ monitoring capability.
- Is set up
for unattended operation with automated reporting capability.
No advanced operator education or laboratory support is required.
- Is designed
to become a mobile/portable unit for more flexible field use.
- REX devices are
built at costs that are significantly less than any other competing
technology in the market today.
The core elements
of the KMD Science instrument consist of two parts:
- An XRF analyzer
- A pre-concentration
cell

The basic XRF analyzer
could be manufactured by any of the over 35 manufactures of XRF gear.
They all achieve basically the same sensitivities, given the same exposure
times and X-ray power. A good example is the Thermo NORAN QuantX EC.
KMD Science has achieved better performance with lower-cost and a lower-power
X-ray tube by paying particular attention to the materials used for
collimating, stopping the main beam, and optimizing the illumination
and detection geometry for its specific application.
The KMD Science's
main advantage comes from the patent-pending pre-concentrator cell.
The REX design
is intended to operate in remote applications where user interface
is unnecessary.
REX is an important
tool, currently available for demonstration, which ensures continued,
state-ofthe-art process control capability, drinking water safety,
homeland defense against tampering with the countrys water supply,
and environmentally clean discharges of waste waters.
- Combines state-of-the-art
and patented X-ray fluorescence and proprietary aerogel*
- Applications with
custom software
- System continuously
monitors flow streams for almost instantaneous detection
- Each system can
be easily augmented with low-cost Gen 2 satellites
- Automatic, robust
operation
- Guarantee of no
false positives
- Favorable comparative
cost to all competitive systems over the life of the system

REX can detect all
EPA-regulated dissolved metals to the levels established by the EPA
for consumer safety. This includes the latest acceptable levels of arsenic
at 10 ppb.

Our review
of the new technology being developed by KMD/ISI (for AMDS) to provide
a highly efficient sensing and measuring device for measuring dissolved
minerals and metals in liquids would have a definite application in
our patented method of removing such matter from polluted water. We
are looking forward to receiving more comprehensive information so
that we can plan ahead for the possibility of implementing your new
technology in a future configuration of our PMI Water Treatment System.
Thank
you for sharing the information with us on your new technology. We
look forward to being able to work with you and your associates for
our future mutual benefit."
