Our Technologies
ToxAlert
ToxAlert is expected
to provide unattended monitoring against terrorists attacks on the countrys
water supplies by providing real-time "alert and risk assessment."
KMD Science's new
hybrid spectral analyzer is smaller than the size of a common box of
Kleenex. The main body of the analytical instrument will be approximately
6 inches square and about 2.5 inches tall.
Tox-Alert's design
uses a fiber optically tethered, remote-sensing probe that allows for
quick and convenient installation of the system. It will bring unheard
of speed, accuracy, and sensitivity to the realm of remote toxic chemical
monitoring. Whether for anti-terrorist/counter-terrorist environments
or commercial applications, false positive identifications will become
a thing of the past.
The system can be
mounted either inline with other instrumentation, or as a stand-alone
system, which will provide real-time in-situ detection for all EPA-monitored
contaminants to low-ppb concentrations.
- High performance:
The proprietary EUV fluorescent spectrometer improvements that KMD
Science proposes will detect toxic agents targeted in the low parts-per-billion
vapor pressures region and discriminate among the presence of a high-ambient
background or environmental interference (such as humic matter at
nominally the same fluorescent wavelengths).
- Proven core
technology and design: EUV Fluorescent spectroscopy is a proven
approach and
works today in applications involving un-concentrated natural waters.
The scientists of KMD Science have already designed, built, and
characterized a fluorescent spectrometer to detect dissolved poly-aromatic
hydrocarbons
in seawater for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL)
and this gained knowledge is being leveraged into the ToxAlert
design.
The KMDs expertise in similar low noise, high integration
consumer, industrial, and medical sensor projects is crucial to
its
understanding the design, materials and construction issues.
